I have a Solana 34 gallon cube. It has a built in sump that's in the tank itself. It came with a protien skimmer that I'm not sure if its good enough. I know a good skimmer is worth its weight in gold. Does anyone know about the skimmer that comes with this system? I don't think it's a name brand of any kind.

One thing I think is cool is water that comes out of the skimmer goes through a area of micorballs. The microballs are coverd with air bubbles as the water carrys some bubbles from the skimmer to the bio balls.

The skimmerr seems to be working becasue the cup get's filled with the bubble goo and slime but I don't know if it could be doing a good job or not.

I've seen that set up in my LFS and its a beauty! I almost bought it. If the skimmer is producing a brownish-greenish foam or liq.( that stinks ), then its working properly. The BB are there also to stop some/most of the micro bubbles from entering the DT. Luna

MY LFS has the same setup. He has it running for a while and everything is fine. So to answer your question, the skimmer seems sufficient. Like Luna said, it's very nice/clean looking cube.
