i'll do it, is there a good brand name, or ask lfs? Also the clown that died looked fine last night except for hanging in the back, but this morning gene said when he removed him he had a white-ish coating on him. Is this something that happens when they die? The clown is swimming (hovering) in the same exact spot he was in this afternoon, not swimming around the 125 gallon tank at all, any reason...the tank is crystal clear, i wonder if they could have been sick from the store? Going to look online for a refractometer

If you get another clown it is best to get one in the same family..so you want to get the same type you got. Also get it smaller like said. I waited for a couple months before I added another one after my female died. My male wandered around looking for her and I was told that I needed to wait until he settled down a little or else he would attack the new fish thinking he could find his mate (or something like that)

I would make one suggesiton to you about acclimating. I would recommend doing the drip method versus adding water to your bag. The reason I say that is you dont want ANY of the water from your LFS added to your tank...you dont know what chemicals have been added, what bacteria is in the water or whatever. My LFS started dosing low dose copper in their display tanks to keep ick under control. I only found that out because one of the employees told me! I would bet many other places do that. Regardless you just dont want to risk introducing anything into your tank that you dont know about. Plus I drip over a couple hours...so the SG is equalized as much as possible

By the way..CUTE avatar! I have 2 yorkies also. My one is turning silver...people think he is older then his sister cause she is more brown/black and he is silver/black/brown

can you tell me how to do the drip method? I do believe the fish were sick from the store, I've been sitting close to the tank for about an hour now & the clown has a flaky white-ish film just slight but I can see it & my husband said when he pulled the dead one out this morning it had the same. I hope to god it's not "velvet", I've been researching a little and it does not look like ich. I have a feeling I'm going to lose him too.
Chilly is my avatar, he's out little baby, He's a toy yorkie & I'll never do that again either, always on the look out for hawk's & owl's around here, the next will be at least a 20 pounder.

my parents got the a brother and sister from the first liter of this mom. Her dogs are toy..weighing maybe 4 to 5 pounds. I got 2 pups from a couple litters later..same mom and same dad (Know the breader) and mine are monster yorkies! The male probably weighs 7 pounds and the female is 6. Their body style is even different! I had them down at my parents house tonight and my one dogs head is the size almost of her entire dog! I think somebody was fooling around in that dog household! Even their actions are totally different. Mine are like toddlers...destructive, playful, always on the move. Their hair is curlier and coarser. My parents yorkies are typical lap dogs..dont like to play, and are scared of everything. I hear you about the hawks...

Anyway..drip is easy. LFS should sell this or you can make your own with rigid tubing, airline and a valve. Proper Handling of Aquarium Fish: New Fish Acclimation Kit But I just open the valve until I can see the individual drips and then let it go for an hour or two!

Drip is great. I prefer floating it and adding my tank water to the bag a little at a time. I haven't had any problems with dripping the LFS water from the bag into my tank. I just clip the bag to the back of the tank and it stays upright.

Were they eating? What were you feeding? Might want to try adding some garlic to their food in case the white stuff turns out to be something nasty.

the other died this morning. I absolutley do not get it! Everyone else is fine, clear of any film or ich, clear eye's, swimming & eating good. We added the 3 cromis the same day & they're thriving! Did all tests again for the 5th day in a row & it's all good. It had to have been on them, they were in there 2 weeks exactly, I just hope the others don't get it, I'm watching close. They were eating, and we use garlic too, the one just started to hang back about 5 day's or so ago, now there both gone. I think I'll wait awhile before adding any, even though the LFS said try the cheapies instead of the True, she's never had a problem with them but now I'm afraid

I'd do a good water change just in case. did you bring the latest dead one back to the lfs? they should either give you your money back or two more fish. that's sad!

I disagree with everyone :) 99.99 for a "mated pair" is not all that bad, seen one at the LFS's here for about 140 a while ago. Of course that is from the more expensive store but at least they know how to take care of their livestock unlike the other two we have....
