    Quick question.
Is there any short-term affect for having higher than usual salinity?

For instance, I just checked mine using my refractometer and it was 1.029.
I'm still buying water, so tomorrow morning I'm going to make sure I get some R/O.

But for future reference, if the salinity is that high is it like Code Red get it down ASAP or will it really not be that damaging for a day or so?

I've got fish and soft corals BTW.

Also, in a 60 Gallon tank, would something like 5 Gallons lower it enough you think? I know it's trial and error, but I'd think 5 Gallons of 0 Salinity would do the trick right?
    Thanks

I would start a couple of 10% water changes over then next couple of days, if your shooting for 1.025sg then make sure your sg in your new water is 1.025, you dont want a drastic change in any of your water para.

So you would change it out with 1.025 salt?

The problem seems that all local stores seem to have their salt around like 1.027 even though they all say it's 1.025...

I was just going to put like 2.5 Gallons of R/O in, and then 2.5 more in a few days to knock it down.

Yes I would do a water change with 1.025 sg, you can add just rodi water but be careful not to swing your sg to much...
