I just picked up a BTA yesterday from my work and yesterday he anchored real fast in a spot with a good deep crevass and such. This morning before the lights came on he was out from his crevass and doing fine. Now that the timer has kicked on both the actinics and 10k's he is sucked deep back into his crevass now? Any ideas? Is it possible that since he was kind of kept in dimmer light at the shop that he is shocked by my brighter light?

Water params are good with exception of nitrate around 15 ppm.

I have 2 BTA's. My Rose BTA is out all day long, while my Green BTA just hides to the point where I can not feed it. Still, it is fine. It's just what they do...

What specifically are your water parameters? 15ppm on NO2 isn't dangerously high, but can cause problems with nems, since they are so delicate. How old is your tank?

Thanks for the post! Fortunately he has since settled into a new hole and is doing great. Opening up nice and big and I was actually able to feed him today. I think he was just kinda shocked with my lights because they are quite a bit brighter than what he was kept under at the shop. He is all good now. Water params are spot on with minimal nitrates.
