Hey guys just a quick question. I have a 20 gallon long cycling tank. I have a eheim jager submersible heater. It is set to 77 degrees, the heater will turn on going to 77.8, then it will shut off going to 76.5 or so, the turns back on. It is like a cycle and keeps happening almost every 3 hours. Is this fluctuating too much and will it stress out my fish eventually?

Lol, welcome to 3reef. But to answer you anyhow, your fish are fine with that. Nothing to worry about. Any further questions should be brought up in a fresh thread though.

Many people will suggest having 2 smaller heaters in the tank instead of 1 large heater to help maintain a more stable temp. Some people use a chiller and heater in combo and set the temps to be very close so that one or the other almost constantly runs and that cycle maintains a constant temp within 1 degree or so.

With that said being summer with no chiller my tank fluctuates between 79 and 82 degrees way more often than I would like without any noticeable stress on the inhabitants. I try to keep it between 79.5 and 80.5 but sometimes when I am away from home with the AC off it jumps up
