help with urchin fast !!!!

    i juspt put my black long spined urchin in my tank and it spewing white stuff is this toxic to the fish? what actions should i take

    It's spawning. Adjust your protein skimmer to be more dry for a day or two. This is likely a stress-spawn. How long did you drip acclimate? What is your specific gravity?

    salinity is 1.023 i believe. ... i did not drip him because i feel he was already stressed heavily from being in the bag floating in the tank for afew hours ( i got called into work on emergency). salinity and ph between the lfs water and min wer almost identical and the lfs guy said i could just float him and dump him. is the spawning harmful to anything? and why dry wouldnt yoou want it wet skim to get more of it out?

    it will not be too stressed from being in an bag for a long long time.. a few hours at work isn't gonna totally stress out an urchin.. they get shipped in bags before they get to the lfs that you purchased it from for many hours.. bad excuse! :D hehe i hope it's okay though just poking at you

    I see them them down here in the Fl. Keys caught at various spots during low tide, they're really hardy.
