I'm new to having a wet/dry sump and just decided to use one after my decision to upgrade to a 75 gallon. I bought this off craigslist and have a couple of questions!

    1. Is everything here? And if not what do I still need to get?

    2. How do I set it up?

    3. Any tips or advice for the best results!

Like a said I'm new to these and this is my first one so any help is greatly appreciated!

Beneath the hose that's attached to the top of the acrylic box (the drain hose), there is a tray. That tray will hold your filter pad (if you choose to use it). Below that, on top of the black tray, is where the bioballs would go (again, if you choose to use them). To the left of there you should have 2 or 3 baffles that will help control water level in the bioball area. The left side should be open for you to reach inside it. That is where the return pump would go.

From the pictures you are either missing 3 pumps or one large pump. You have the skimmer and what appears to either be a reactor of some sort (it appears to be a sediment filter for an RO/DI setup though). You would need a pump to run those two and a return pump. Personally, I would rather have 3 pumps than one large one because it makes it easier to maintain and adjust each piece of equipment separately.

I would skip the bioballs entirely, unless you are VERY familiar with the advantages and disadvantages of them. Just run the wet/dry as a regular sump and forget about the balls themselves.

If the drain side lid comes off, and you can remove all the trays, that would be the best place for the skimmer, then have your return pump in the other side. And leave it at that.

Is there anything else not in the pictures, or, some close ups of whats in the photo?
