Params would be good, but absent those +1 to him trying to find a nice home that meets all his needs. Should settle in to one spot nicely, given the params are all in order. He is just trying to find his favorite place in the tank.

i believe it may be stuck under a rock, it keeps stretching and contracting like a worm. it seems like its pinned between the floor and a rock, is this possible? it looks like its trying to move away. what should i do? it has been in the same spot for about a day or 2.

yes let him be, i have 4 BTAs the first time i got my first 2 i was constantly paranoid they were not doing well. what you are seeing is normal, its them trying to acclimate to your light and water. whatever you do DO NOT move them where YOU want them to be, it will only waste their energy and potentially kill them.

on a side note i have a green, orange, pink and red BTA. and of corse the red and the pink have decided to go in hiding (pink one placed herself on the side of a LR, can still see her when she is open but dont have a nice front view of her, and the red decided that behind a LR and clear away from view was best for her, i can still see her if i pull crazy stunt moves while looking at the side of my tank but....yea annoying) leave them be. im thinking since its harder for me to target feed my red BTA she will eventually move again to a place where i can reach her trap.

also dont be afraid if you see your BTA at times with their mouths puffed up and open almost as if they are turning inside out or shrunken and flabby, they are either releasing waste or changing the water in their bodies.

Or if you see them closed up like a ball (most likely eating something)

however BE worried if you see your BTA floating on your sand bed flat and flabby and remove her asap, they can be very polluting when dead.

signs of good health on a BTA are a firm grip on her rock, mouth closed (except when releasing wast) seeing them open and close at times

    goodluck!
