there in a big bowl with a air stone. the 2 fish are not looking good. the spots went away, or atleast maybe the one i saw this morning with spots is the one i found dead... i dunno.

i thought for a minute one of them looked better, so i put him back in the tank... then he sank, hit his head on the rock. came swimming back up acting like he was blind smacking right into the heater, and then the glass...

what can i check for in the tank?

well if its some kinda chemical or something it got into the tank accidentally.. im kinda off there.. im not sure what else..
    do another check of everything
    PH
    ammonia
    nitrite
    nitrate
    phosphates

maybe try to take the fish out and putting them in that bawl with new water.. and do a mayor water change on the DT.

Be sides the fish not having a sense of direction, when he is swimming, is it not normal? Like somethings irritating him?

Wow! Umm I suggest putting them in a qt tank with a bit of that water like 15% and the rest a fresh mix! if its like a 10 gallon qt. It could be a few things. definitely not a flow or oxygen problem. Something is wrong with the water. Maybe ur testing equipment is no -good or you're doing something wrong while conducting the test (no offense) I don think spraying air freshener was the case either bc if that was the case my fish will all be belly up bc i do that on a daily bases. Have u had any company over? maybe someone accidently dropped something in the tank, maybe a kid or something. How about anemones? do u have any? what type of fish did you have in that tank? sometimes when certain fish or inverts die or are scared they release toxins into the water for their pray.. this is the case with box fish. How about chemicals? did you use any conditioners recently? anything at all? essential elements, stresscoat, medications of any kind? maybe one of those products could have been messed up or expired. My suggestion is QT QT QT..... 55 gallon tank right? do a 30% water change if its a fish only tank.. Good luck!

    i just wrote it tonight.

the parameters are all good. except for .5 ppm of phosphate.
salinity is 1.022, my PH is about 8.0 to 8.2.

the only other stuff in the tank is some GSP, some zoa's and some other bigger polyps. a couple shrooms. about 20 hermits and about 7 snails. i also noticed like 4 hermits skins. like they just shedded.

I have not used any chemicals. the only thing that has been done to the tank that is recent, i put in the new k2 and k1 power heads last night.

Did you wash off the power heads before you installed them, there may have been some release agent on them or some kind of lube on the shaft. i found this to be the case on some pumps i have bought.
