    Hey All,

What's a good reliable submersible heater to put in my sump?
I have a 120g tank with a 40g sump. I was going to put two 250W/300W heaters in the return section of the sump. I don't need two to heat the water (I'm in California with mild winters) but I figure it doesn't hurt to have a little redundancy.

Eventually, I will buy a reef controller to hook these heaters to so if you have any recommendations on controllers too, I am all ears.

    Thanks.

depending on how many things you need to control the digital aquatics reef keeper lite is a great controller for the price. if your looking for a higher end one I use the reef keeper elite and love it, and my buddy uses the Apex controller and its really good too.

for heaters, if your using a controller reasonably soon I am of the opinion you don't need a real fancy one since the biggest issue with heaters is the thermostat is shorting and sticking in on position, but since the controller is cutting power to it all together thats not really an issue. that being said i would still get one from a reputable company, and not some brand you've never heard of

I have had great results with the Via Aqua Titanium heaters. Seperate controllers and temp sensors make them very accurate.

I now have a Reefkeeper Lite so have the heater controller set a degree above the RKL as a safety.

Titanium heaters / stealth heaters are good - I control them with the Apex - great controller.
