    any heater recommendations?

i notice that a couple of heaters that i get just goes on and off and doesnt actually know whats the temperature of the water. is the visi therm deluxe any good? will it go off at a certain temperature that i set it to? i dont want the stealth version because i would like to see at least some sort of light to indicate that the heater is working. thanks

Save yourself alot of $$$ & heartache, NEVER buy glass heaters. I agree with the titanium heaters.....pretty much indestructible.;)

I use Hydor Theo heaters. Hydor THEO Submersible Aquarium HeatersThey have a light so you can tell when they're on. IME they are very accurate. Keeps the tank temperature right at 80F unless the room gets too hot and I need to cool the tank. I use one to heat new water that I'm mixing. I can literally plunge it from warmed up water into cold RO without cracking.

I would stay away from the Stealth. I had one and it would cause me to get ute a sock whenever I put my hand in the tank and touched my metal light fixture.

I agree look into titanium heaters. Try to find one with a digital display. That way you can see very easily what the heater thinks the temp is and check that against a tank thermometer. This way you know for sure if you heater is working right.

Buy with in your buget but this is an Item that I would not skimp on as it will last you a long time or a little while pending on the brand I had a Cheap one I bought from Hello lights that only lasted 6 months. I can not remember the brand but it was like 30 bucks. Titianium it worked great for the 6 months but that was all it lasted.

I got my titanium off of ebay and it's great... It came with it's own thermostat but I would never trust any brands internal thermostat.. get it hooked to a controller. Otherwise use it conjunction with several reliable thermometers and watch it like a hawk. Get two.. one for the tank and one for water changes.
