OK so I've just started a 10g and everything seems to be fine except the temp. There is no heater in the system but the avg temp 80 (78-82). I'm afraid it may over heat in these FL summers. The lighting is 2 corallife 50/50 20w pcf. I keep my AC on 78 while I'm at work/school and around 76 when I'm home....

Do have reason to be concerned and if so what ideas do any of you have?

You're within the ideal temp range.

Well if it gets hotter you may have to adjust your lighting schedule.

look into chillers? for my nano i have it open top, with a cieling fan on at all times and an office fan pointing at the lights and water surface. worse case scenario, put some ice in two ziploc bags and float it.

currently, you are in a good range, just watch out in the summer.

Look into adding some clip on fans if your temp gets too high. You're good for now though.

whats in your tank? if its fish only, maybe youll want to turn off one of the bulbs if you can. if you have some corals in it, invest into a small led fixture much better par and looks nicer(this option also clears up the top of your tank and lets more air breath over yourtank), or maybe move your tank closure to where your ac is blowing since its only 10 gallons

The tank is empty for now it's still cycling. However, I plan on making it a zoa garden. I do plan on upgrading to led but the lights are hardly ever on anyway so I'm thinking its more of the FL heat. For now I think I'll get a couple small fans and run them with the lights on to see how warm it gets. Better to do it now instead of later and risk killing anything.
