It is a great feeling when you are able to trap that fish that has worn out his welcome. I wanted one of those fish but my LFS guy warned me against getting one because of the bad habits. Nice Job ;D

i i got him because of the bad habits. I wanted him to eat the aiptasia and if he took a few coral polyps here and there it would have been ok with me. he just took only coral polyps and not a one aiptasia! i figured he was small and would be mildly safe for a short time just to get rid of some of those pesky anemones..When he got big i planned to get him a new home. Turned out that it didnt work as planned but at least i caught him and already found him a new home :)

A close friend of mine just trapped and returned his. He was looking for an aggressive aiptasia eater. Got one..... It had a taste for shrooms, galaxea, button polyps, trumpets, and wooped up on the aiptasia. Left his colt, kenya, xenia and zoas alone. Definitely did it's job and then some. I believe it's now being sold as an aiptasia controller.

Funny thing is my regal angel wont eat anything but flake food. I also have a bellus angel but she is reef safe like all genicanthus angels.

I read on garf.org it is the Copperband Butterfly that eats aiptasia and is supposedly reef friendly, check it out here (CONTROL OF AIPTASIA IN REEF AQUARIUMS TANKS). However, what happens after all the aiptasia are gone? I am trying peppermint shrimp as another alternative. I only had a couple of small aiptasia between some zoas and they are gone and zoas are ok, so...

im well aware of the copperbands...the trouble is getting it to eat period! I tried peppermint many of times and they are an expensive wrasse meal in my tank. Im gonna give berghia nudibranches a try. I know a guy who is breeding them locally.

He's not eating flakes but once he stops being so skittish, I'll try again.

cool keep me posted on his progress. To bad he was such a problem cause he is a cute little fellow :) pretty rare to come across one that small. Normally they are at least 2-3" in the fish stores.
