    just wondering if any1 is changing what the put in thier filers. i still have the same carbon and 3 of what ever cam w/ it. any info would be nice thank you :) .

    you could use it as a reactor meaning you could put whatever you want in there...granular activated carbon(gac), purigen, chemipure, granular ferric oxide(gfo)...the thing about canister filters is that you got to keep them clean of deitris.

    +1 ^^^^. Although I would suggest not putting GFO in the canister. If the flow isn't right it becomes solid. Get a reactor for GFO use. Definitely clean it often, do not use and anything for nitrification. I use filter floss to help polish the water and then carbon and or purigen.

    reeferdude what is all that? im sorta new doing saltwater and have no clue what everything does. plz give me some more info. thank you.

    but there is so much to choose from. my tank is doing great. i was looking for product names instead of all the other things mentioned in this tread. like bio balls? no yes. i have 6 place to store things atm 3 carbon and 3 for bio. but i thought thats what the LR is for thats your bio filter.
