so im selling my complete 90 gallon setup today, and starting over from square one. on monday morning im ordering:

93 Gallon cube with corner overflow
    Eshopps RS-100 sump
    Sicce Syncra silent pump 5.0
160 LBS of sand from Marcorocks.com (should i get fine or corse for DSB?)
52 Lbs Pukani dry from for BRS

Ive read up on cycling tanks (remind you that ive never cycled a tank before) and ive gotten mixed reviews on lights and skimmer use durring the cycle. so ive desided taht im not going to get my lights yets, because they are expencive and my wife is a very violent woman haha. And same witht eh skimmer, but when i do get them, itll be:

Ai Sol Blue LEDs w/ controller
    Reef octopus XS160

Ill only have one or two pieces of LPS, to start off with, so one Ai Sol will have to do. and ill get one more later on, or 2 nanos or whatever else they have out at the time:)

Im excited to start from scratch, im going to be building my stand, undecided on the highth of the stand at this point, more to come on that.

I have been told not to use a skimmer while cycling, I personally didn't when I cycled my 125g. :)

I know all about the crazy violent wife thing, I feel for ya :)

There is really no need to run the lights during the cycle, unless you want to look into the tank for some reason.

As for the skimmer, also not necessary.

Good start I love cubes the offer so much depth if the aquascape is done properly. Now in terms of the ai sol, I woukdnt settle for 2 nanos as that's only about half a sol at nearly double the cost. I would hold out til you can pick up the other one. I'm currently running one ai super blue on my 35g cube and I love the light. My tank won't cycle case I basically am just moving it from my old tank. But I am still waiting to add live stock tomorrow marks 2 weeks of the tank running so I will add a clean up crew and chromis and then eventually at 3 weeks I will add the rest of my old tank to it. I look forward to following your build, as I'm basically just doing a smaller version of what you are, I went with a center overflow. Good luck and keep us posted, pics too when you can

Oh itll most deff be full of pictures. so teh lady i sold my tank too is good friends with a guy who owns a saltwater store here in CT, and i called them up asking prices for teh 93 cube, and ive been calling around all week for teh best price on these things (keep in mind the violent wife, haha) and he told me to wait untill teh first becase the people who make the tank, i think its perfecto, not 100% sure, but who ever makes tehm is having a huge sell starting on march first, so insted of beening over 600 for the tank he told me that it'd only be roughly 350-375ish, so with that in mind, the money that ill be saving ont the actual tank itself, im gonna get teh ecotech radions insted of the ai sol blues. and he said that the Ai Sols were on back order for like 2 and half months.

what are yalls thoughs on the sand for DBS, fine or corse? and im open to sugestions for the tank stand highth.itll either be 31 inches tall or 36. It will be view'd from teh seated position 98% of teh time

Aquacorals.com, which I have been obsessed with recently suggests a large Volume of fine sand under normal aragonite bottom. See her chart below.

    How Much Sand To Use:

Tanks with a floor dimension of:

    48" x 18":
Bottom Sand = 5 Bags of 30 Lb Aragamax sugar fine
Top Sand = 1 40Lb Bags of Sea Flor + 1 15Lb Sea Flor OR 3 20Lb bags of Aragalive

    48" x 24":
Bottom Sand = 6 Bags of 30 Lb Aragamax sugar fine
Top Sand = 2 40Lb Bags of Sea Flor OR 4 20Lb bags of Aragalive

    72" x 18":
Bottom Sand = 7 Bags of 30 Lb Aragamax sugar fine
Top Sand = 2 40Lb Bags of Sea Flor OR 5 20Lb bags of Aragalive

    72" x 24":
Bottom Sand = 8 Bags of 30 Lb Aragamax sugar fine
Top Sand = 3 40Lb Bags of Sea Flor OR 6 20Lb bags of Aragalive
