My local club had their annual frag swap today....sadly this was WAY smaller then ever before, however I got some great deals! Hoping next year to be one of the people selling!

I am going to be getting some more stuff in the next couple weeks as I know one of the guys who has the cool expensive pieces and he said he will make me a deal afterwards.

I bought some kaelidoscope palys (they are closed up right now so cant get pictures) but are really cool. I bought a big bag of halimedia macro algea and 5 polyps of rainbow acans (will post the paly and acan pictures later when they are nice and open)

Here are some pictures of the other stuff that I bought today

This is one of my most favorite corals that I have...It is very low light and a little more difficult to care for then the rest that I got, but I thought it was cool...
it is a meteor shower coral (Cyphastrea). It is called superman cyphastrea and is blue/purple skin with red polyps. Again it is a low light coral so I have it placed on a rock now in a little cave. The guy said if it gets too much light it bleaches, so I will need to move the rock around a little to get the right light mixture!

I got a ORA green birdsnest...common coral but one that I do not have
    [IMG]

I got a Mars Man Chalice, which is orange with yellow eyes

I also bought a deepwater yellow acro, but could not get a good picture of it

and I got a red/green acro. Looks like a red planet but is not ORA.

the one coral that I wanted but am going to get later is the Bubble Gum Chalice. The guy that is selling it is friends with me and is going to get it to me for a good deal post swap! Cant wait!

On another post somebody wanted me to take a pic of my sea apple.

it just finished eating so that is why it is in that odd position!

Yeah, I love my cyphastrea just like yours.

I have had mine a month now and it likes very indirect light. It seems to grow faster for me than I was told it would grow. What dealer/ vendor did you get it from?

the red and green acro, very well could be an ora red planet. ORA just names corals so they can get premium $$ for it.

Looks just like my ORA red planet. Be careful where you place it. if it gets too much light it will turn all red ,and too little and it is all green. You have to find a happy medium.

the place I got my cyphestra is from Pauls Corals...he was based in Wi.

I think it is a red planet, like you said, just not from ORA. It looks identical to the ORA one that I had (had a kH drop to 4 and did not realize it for a couple days!)

thanks...hope they both grow faster then I think they will! LOL

The swap was sad...only like 7 booths set up and over half were from out of state..not too many members selling this year! I guess the economy got a lot of people out of the hobby

Yeah, that looked like a frag of meteor shower from Paul Law:) He is part of my local club, the Wisconsin Reef Society.

He is an awesome guy, and has an amazing reef aquaculture system in his house.

That is such a small world....his stuff was awesome! I ended up buying 3 pieces from him, would have been more if I had money....the meteor shower, the birds nest and the rainbow acan. Great prices!

He is actually a friend of mine as well. I'm hoping to do some skeet shooting with him in the next 2 weeks.

If you think what he brings to the swaps is awesome, you should see his tanks in the house.

Here are a couple pics of his growout tanks. He has more, including display reef tanks too.

will try to get some tonight. Acans have become one of my favorite corals. I have been very fortunate that acans love my tank, and quickly become fat, fat, fat! (like me! ::) )

It is a red rainbow, so I am excited to see how they turn.

The one big problem with acans is they can tend to take on different colors in different tanks. That is one reason I will not pay the price of a rainbow acan (this was a great deal, and my third piece from him so he knocked a big hunk off) I have 5 fairly large colonies, and all but one of them have turned a little different. One was just a reddish color when I got it but now it has turned into a red/orange/blue/white rainbow! I had a red one that turned orange, an red/orange one that got bright orange with white and grey. The only one that stayed the same color is the pink colony that I had. The only thing it has done is get brighter pink!

those are amazing! I could have easily spent all my money in his stand if he would have been the first one I went to! I want to get the green meteor shower frag sometime from him.
