Probably a lame question - I bought a new package of formula one frozen food, the stuff in the cubes... The last package, I would chop up into small pieces and it would retain kind of a "rubbery" consistency and keep in the pieces that I chopped. This package turns into mush when I try and chop it. Can anyone tell me which way it's supposed to be? My fish don't seem to be going after this new package much either, so I'm afraid there's something wrong with it. Any advice? Thanks in advance...

Doesn't sound right. Formula One has a gelatin binder included in it and that's why it stays in the cubes that you cut. Possibly they changed the recipe though. I would contact them http://www.oceannutrition.com/contact.html

I wonder if they change their product composition based on availability of items? Like if the cost of squid goes up, they add more shrimp to the mix? That may explain it (the change in consistency and the change in/lack of interest of your fish). Just a thought.

Very strange. I've never had that problem. Keep us posted.

I am nit a fan of formula one, The gelatin content is the reason. I like the Lifeline product much better less binder more good stuff. I experimented by defrosting cubes side by side in cups on the counter and everytime Lifeline did a better job breaking up and seemed to have more larger food pieces. They come in the same type of packaging and sizes, cost about the same so I pick Life line for better quality in my experience
