In my 46 gallon I have 2 Koralia 1's in each corner and pointed down and to the opposite corner, also a Koralia Nano in the back corner to product some flow in the back of the rocks. My Skimmer and HOB Filter. Today I added another Koralia 1 to blow at the surface to see if the ph will stay higher at night time. Does anyone else have a powerhead pointed to the surface for this? Im afraigs though that my Coral Elegance may not like the extra flow.

i have always keep a PH pointed up to produce a ripple across the surface it helps with the release of CO2

Do you find it prevents the PH from lowering as much at night

i have never tested my PH at night since i have a refugium with a light running almost 24 hours a day this helps control the PH. the main reason for the ripple in the surface is to help release the CO2 which i think would help with the PH but im not 100% sure on that

What do others think about flow at surface and ph effect. My Coral Elegances polyps were waving alot. I am not sure if he likes it.

surface movement will definitely help with gas exchange - either a PH pointed angled upwards or simply adding air pump/ air stone combination will certainly help maintain the tanks Ph - may still get a little lower at night but would help prevent the massive swings that some experience from 8.2 during day to 7.8 or 7.9 at night

Less C02 means less acidic in humans and fish tanks!
