basically woke up this am and went to the tank. found a small glofish dead at the bottom, so took it back and got a new one this afternoon. so I get back and put the new one in without problems. I watched him swim around and then went upstairs for about an hour, came back down and there was a 2nd dead glofish on the bottom in the cave and then the new one I just got was floating dead. Im not sure what happened, nitrate 0,nitrites 0, ph 7.6, and ammonia was about 6. did a 25% waater change and then took readings again, all were same except ammonia dropped to 4.0. so I changed one of the filters carbon/ammonia pack, and then changed the other filters carbon which was very dirty. added ammonia lock. after all this all the fish look good, the barbs, the guppies, and the plattys. the neons (5) are all behaving except 1. it started shoooting around the tank like it had a fire in it, then came to a stop and laid on the bottom of the tank breathing heavily.after a 1/2 hour its swimming around but is getting easily pushed around by the current. any ideas what this could be?thanks:confused:

If this is a new tank..You stocked it with too much, too fast. You should have 0 ammonia. Ammonia is poison to fish. You need to google the nitrogen cycle.

my sons glofish didnt survive long in an established 29g.. the tetras and mystery snails always have been great.. I change water every week. I think glofish are just weak and crappy.. we replaced em with more tetras.. and now we have 20+ mystery snails cuz one of the snails was a bit promiscuous.

Your fish are suffering from ammonia burn. Your ammonia should be 0 if not very close to. It's like someone sticking you in a smoke filled room. Your lungs are going to painfully fill up with smoke as you suffocate and die.

Don't stock your aquarium so quickly. And never ever go and get a new fish to replace a dead one until you figure out what's wrong with your tank in the first place. That's very careless and reckless behavior.

Basically I agree with what has been stated. It sounds like either you didn't properly cycle your tank, or you have way too many fish in it. What size is the tank? How long has it been setup? How many fish do you have in it?

if a fish dies in a system NEVER replace it the same day, always do a water change and find out the problem, you should not need to use products like ammo lock to help solve problems. get the filters running and let the biological process take place. give it at least a week prefferably 2-3 then test again and if all is at an acceptable level then you can add fish. if a fish dies it shouldnt say buy a new one it should ring alarm bells to find out what caused it

Genetically modified zebra danios, and just danios in general, are commonly referred to as glofish.
