Just wondering which fish I should put in my tank first ? Put in the two clowns first or the three cardinals ? Just incase it matters other fish on my too add list are mandarin, blenny, wrasse(fairy). Really like fish that have cool color patterns or very colorful eye catchers.

blennies and clownfish are good first fish in the tank. do a lot of reaserch on the mandarin before you get one. Mandarins are kinda spiecal needs fish :) very picky eaters thus hard to keep alive

not the ORA mandarins they are coming now eating pellet and frozen easy. but we would need to know how large your tank is to properly recommend a fish or 2.

Don't underestimate the care that goes into an ORA Mandarin. Yes, they eat frozen/prepared foods, but I only consider that a supplement. I've got one that gets fed either Nutramar Ova, PE mysis, or Hikari Marine pellets twice daily, and STILL restock on pods every two weeks just to keep him fat and happy in my 29. Even immediately after a feeding when he sps showing interest in food, I can still watch him pecking at the rocks. They're Slut of work if your tank isn't large enough to produce a large pod population (but still totally worth it, if you're willing to invest the effort).

I disagree, clownfish will make the whole tank their own and be aggressive to newcomers, most likely. IMO Go most peaceful to least peaceful.

Fishes are from heaven-clowns are from hell! Why does everybody want clowns? Their down right evil! Sooo many other fishes to choose from :)

Whatever fish you choose just be sure to research it.

The only reason that I even considered two clowns is because of my two young sons. Will fill the tank with everything else an do the clowns last, that being the boys really want a couple of Nemo's. I have a 110G DT an a 40 gallon sump. I have a 30G tank that I use for water changes an as a QT tank.

I am open to suggestions on fish. I don't want fish that are overly needy an high maintenance. The wife has to be able to manage the tank for a week at a time, five to six times a year. What would you guys suggest ?

    3x Bangaii Cardinalfish
    Starry Blenny
ORA Mandarin (hopefully in a year )
    Splendid Dottyback
    Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse
    Clown Goby, Green

Friend is dismantling her fish tank and has offered me a yellow tang and two azure damsels. Good start, some healthy fish for cheap.

Azure damsels are nice,I've had one for about three years, not agressive and stay small.
