I recently bought a feeding clip for this new Rogger's Reef food I got.

The idea is for the fish to pick at it from the clip and get bits of food. Problem is, none of my fish even bother to get near the clip. They seem scared of it, even my PB Tang. :( Anyone know how to get them to pick at the clip? I want them to get used to it. I just bought a small school of Blue Chromis that i thought would be tearing it apart like piranhas.

:goofy:LFS guy said to "leave food on the clip and do not feed the tank for a few days, they'll go for it when they're starving." .............................:loco::loco::loco:
Idk about everyone else, but this seems like a terrible idea to me. correct me if I'm wrong

Anyways, anyone have any tips or tricks that you used to feed from a clip?

You could try another food. I've found foods that I clip, my tang won't eat but others she loves. Very hard to get her to eat broccoli but she loves spinach haha.

Usually when this happens I continue to feed(frozen, flakes) in smaller quantities while having the clipped food in for 8-12 hours of the day. For the first few days fish can be very wary of a new item in the tank and keep their distance but eventually they will get use to it and if they like the food will eat it.

I honestly havent heard of Blue Chromis eating from a clip though and it's certainly possible to have species which will never eat from a clip (My damsel, mandarin and clownfish never eat off the clip). I could be wrong here though.

I dont see anything wrong with it myself. they are animals that come from the wild. If they are just scared of the clip they will get used to it and eat off of it happily IMPO.

Oh, ok. Well thanks for the relpies everyone. I'll just try feeding very small amounts and leaving the clip in to see if the get used to it and see what happens.

    thanks again everyone! K+
