ok well since my tank cracked im looking into rebuilding it using an external overflow.space is tight only afew inches behind the tank.my question is how do you put holes in the bottom part of the overflow with out the glass cracking?i know how to drill glass but with the overflow being so narrow how do they drill it with out cracking?

If its an "external" overflow - on the outside of the tank - I cant see how you would drill anything?! If it's an "internal" overflow box that has been siliconed to the inside of your DT - then "very carefully" would be the answer to your question.

External overflow box should be drilled before you attach it to the tank.

Not sure how else but to give it a shot make sure you seperate the holes as much as you can to reduce the risk but there is always a chance of cracking when drilling.
