My husband and I recently purchased an Eschopps refugium and it has a prefilter bag-type thing. Right where the water comes in, there is a bag that the water passes through first. This bag has since become clogged and now the water flows right over the tops of it. The manufacturer doesn't seem to have any recommendations on how to clean it and I was wondering if anyone here has suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I normally clean filter bags by throwing them in the wash machine with a little bleach (1/4 cup - no soap). Best thing is to get a couple bags so you can rotate them & give the bleach time to leave the fabric.

Exactly, I have 3 200 micron filter socks, and I try to keep 2 clean ones on standby.

To wash turn inside out in hot water and bleach, no soap.
