hey just got a quicky ?,
i got an emerald crab in my main tank, that does forage nicely for algae, but also spends alot of time sitting on my lps polyps and in my birds nest sps branches, i can see his sharp legs pressing in to the flesh of my frogspawn.ouch! the amount of algae he consumes isnt worth the irritation to my corals,

can i safely put him in my 10 gal fuge?, will he destroy all the algae? will he destroy my pod production?

PM John Maloney. He can tell you. I know that I never thought I had algae production until mine died. He kept my rocks pristine. Then I had a serious GHA bloom and was like, "Where did that some from?"

Anyway, hopefully someone more experienced can help, but if it's green he'll eat it!

Leave him in the tank nothing is needed or wanted in the fuge but water light and weeds/grass . No animals the crab is not harming the corals I have one who had burrowed so long in a green birds nest that is grown around the crab just enough to get in and out of his hiding place. These corals rub on rough rocks 24/7 Just leave the old Emerald where he is.

ok, if tangster tells me so i must obey.lol that was one of the rules on omards list of rules.

but you dont think he could hurt the fleshy polyps of my frogspawn or torch. the birds nest i dont care about, but my euphillia are my prized pieces. its only at night that i see him sitting in the euphillia he sits on this split in the branch with his front legs right in the head of the coral.

I have a fairly nice Frog spawn also and its never hurt it or any of the far more delicate tissues of an sps either like the the sps crabs they just keep it cleans protected from predation by parrot fish and other coral munchers and the emerald crab is just cleaning the tissue of algae thats landed there or is trying to get a start there ? As for the rules I'm just getting by myself I just pass on what little I have learned on my own over the yrs..
