Last night I noticed a bunch of almost microscopic creatures in my tank. At first, I thought they were baby cleaner shrimp. However, after searching my tank, I noticed that one of my Emerald Crabs seemd to be standing much taller than usual. I witnessed it opening and closing its egg sack while dozens of babies/larvae came out. It was quite an amazing site! Unfortuantely my 3 cleaner shrimp where on the other side of the tank chowing down on the larvae. Who knows maybe a couple will survive. My wife and I actually witnessed what appeared to be two Emerald Crabs coupulating a while back but we did not think much of it at the time.

75 gallon Reef tank 49.5 lbs of live rock,54.5 pounds of base rock, 40 lbs live sand, 2 Green Chromis, 1 Starry Algae Blenny, 1 Peppermint Shrimp, 2 Skunk Cleaner Shrimp, 2 Emerald crabs, 5 drawf hermit crabs, and 4 Nasser snails, 5 Bumble Bee snails, 4 Turbo snails, 1 Kenya Tree, 1 Yellow Polyp, 1 Mushroom rock, 1 White Spot Star Polyp, 2 button polyp rocks, 1 Pineapple Coral, 1 Bubble Coral, 1 Xenia Coral, 1 open brain coral, and 1 finger leather

I had an emerald spawn in my first tank. I was very cool to watch. But my fish made a quick snack out of the larva, none survived.
