So I was leak testing my tank and startinng to dial in my dual herbie overflows and im having an issue with the overflows teterting high and low.I am using a squid wich I believe to be the problem.

    210dt 120display sump/fuge
    mag24 return with a 1 inch scwd 1 inch return lines(2)
2 inch drains 4 total 2 with gate valves(wayyy overkill I know but I have oddly bad luck lol)

Im thinking about drilling a hole in the overflowbox to keep the waterline in 1 place?

The idea of a double herbie to drain from 2 tanks to 1 sump is great. But why 2" drain lines? That's pretty big. That's the only thing that seems wrong with it to me.

How much head loss will there be?

I had that same problem in the beginning when I set up my 225. I found out that the tubing I was using wasnt long enough so I had to buy longer tubing and kept putting more down the pipe until it finally stopped. But that was only me. I thought the herbie only used 3 pipes? Maybe to much air?

Not much 7 feet or so....as for the big drains...theyr so its harder to flood my tank with a clog lol sounds extreme I know but u don't get much worse luck then mine so im covering my bases then covering them again lol...this was partially my dads doing he said I can build a big tank but what ever would be considered safe or enough of something to do with leaks he wanted it doubled...so 1 ich drains would have worked so 2inch is where its at.

This is 2 herbies 1dt 1 sump. I have 2 overflows 4 drains total 2 with gate valves 2 open.overflow boxes are on either end of the tank 1 valved drain and 1 free. Flowing drain per overflow.the pump also will be running reactors and other filters.

It's possible the 2 herbbies are fighting themselves. It's a tough adjustment. But try to close 1 completely off and see if the water level stabilizes. This will tell you that the 2 drains are fighting each other. Once you have determined if they are fighting it will be very difficult to balance the 2 drains. Basically you will have to balance the draw from both drain lines

The side the flow is comming from has the correct height inside the overflow box.the opposite side drains faster or fills slower.
