DSB and Refugium Maintenance

Hi all,

As I have just started my new tank (3 months or so) and so far all is well, I wanted to know what people thought about maintaing a deep sand bed. Do you think it needs much maintenance and if so what and when. My old tank had a shallow bed so I want to make sure I include whatever is needed during my routine maintenance.

Also, this is the first time I've had a refugium, it is teeming with little critters and my chaeto seems to be growing. What sort of maintenance do people do in their refugium?

I want to ensure that I keep on top of everything rather than run into problems further down the line!
