Hi guys i just brought my first pair of clownfish. I put them in a pail with water from the store and have my drip line doing 3 drips per second. Do i have to match the slaintiy to the tank. then i could take them out.

I mean, its not really about matching, really what dripping is too slowly adapt the current water to your water SLOWLY, i would say dripping for about 30 minutes is efficient enough. Then you can add them to the tank.

Float for about 20 mins to temp acclimate and then drip for 25-45 mins depending on coral/fish and how off the params are in the bag/bucket.

congrats on your purchase, if they are from an LFS you could drip acclimate for 30-45mins before putting them in if you like. The rule I usually use is that you want the water you add to double the capacity they are in before adding (I usually drain out a bit of water they come in initially so the ratio is easier to achieve). I haven't lost any fish this way and I normally just pour a bit of water in at a time rather than drip.

clowns can take a small change in SG quite easily, a fresh water dip is even practised. temp swings are more of an immediate concern but drip acclimatizing is the best way and after 30-45 mins you should be able to toss em right in.

    CONGRATS!
