Hi. Off top of my head, I dont recall the exact measurements, but I do remember having an easier time mixing when I would add just some of the material at a time (like broke it into 3).

    Warming it definitely helps.

The Mg you will see material out of solution, totally normal. For the other two, once it gets mixed, I dont see it precipitate back out... Not more than a tiny bit anyway.

Also, and this is probably obvious, but make sure you actually have enough freshwater for the mix (i.e. a whole gallon).

How is the pump workin for you so far? Any questions?

Warming will definitely work on the bicarbonate solution, eventually. It has taken me over an hour in a warm water bath to get everything to dissolve but it will dissolve if you measured accurately. :)

Also I heard BRS recently changed their magnesium chemicals (the chloride and/or the sulfate) and you don't get any leftover undissolved material in it. Sure enough my last batch turned out totally clear with nothing left undissolved. If you do see something undissolved from an older batch no worries like Peredhil said, it was normal.

Let the mixture sit for a while. Mine dissolved overnight (may take more) and does not revert back afterwards. You'll love it!!!

I dose Mg about every 2 months. That is, in about 2 months my Mg drops by 100 points. I run that pump for 10 minutes (which happens to raise my system by 100 points). 1500 -> 1400 -> 1500

To keep the timing of different pumps preserved and to maintain stability I run this unit on a battery backup.

It would have been nice if it had one built in... but the backup I have is useful to also run my ATO and a powerhead, so I like it.
