Well i think ive decided to make a stand because the one that came with my tank doesnt look to trust worthy. I was wondering how i would make the stand so it will be able to support the tank and have space so i could slide in a 3 foot tank or slightly bigger for a sump. The DT is 60x18x26.

well the only thing for that is that it doesnt seem like i would be able to slide in a big enough sump for my tank even when i build it to size

You can likely change the proportions of the wood before you start cutting just a bit to fit any sump. It's built like a rock - 2 inches here or there won't change that.

Sure you can, the center brace is not needed. I built that one short, just increase the leg length to make it taller. Nothing says you cant make it wider than the tank itself to help accomodate another tank.

well the only thing i was worried about was not having enough support in the middle of the tank

well thats no problem, this will easily support a 6 to 8' tank without center braces.

good luck with whatever you decide to use :)

you can but I prefer the 4x4's for the strength of the lap joints, with 2x4's those joints are only 1" thick.
I'm just very conservative so I overbuild.

ya that is a good point on overbuilding but i just think that if i do the 4x4s that i will need to make the stand much bigger so i can fit the sump underneath and i just dont have the space. Yet i will still do some more researching. thanks
