    If you scrub in in the water you are removing from your tank at water change time
    its a good idea IMO

    If you are scrubbing it under tap water or RODI fresh water then its not a good idea
    as bacteria colonise that rock and they help with your filtration

    when I had cyno, I used a toothbrush to clean the rock gently at the same time I syphoned so I scrubbed and syphoned at same time ( you need someone to help you make sure the other end of the syphon tube stays in the bucket or you end up with a wet carpet)
