I just set up a 20g with live sand and some live rock from my 75g. I used premade RO water from my LFS. Does the tank still go through a cycle?

Yes I did use Salt.. This is my 2nd fish tank. I have a 75g. I did just test the salinty and it was low....damn LFS.. so im gonna go pick up some Reef Salt and get it up to par. I think Im gonna buy plain RO and mix in my own salt from now on.

UPDATE: Got the water up to normal. Got the Reef Salt so that will help out. Now turns out the light is not that great. This is a light we bought as a kit with another tank so I'm gettin ready to order a nice T5 setup. Any suggestions of what I should do next?
    Added Live rock/sand last night
    Corrected Salinty
Have a temp 50/50 t8 full spec light for now until T5 gets here.
Will be adding Chromis later on this week.

And you just set your tank up..??
I think you need to slow down.. Let your water get stable..
Your fish may make it, but may not live thru the cycle..
There's much more then Corrected Salinty ...
But then you know that.. You may be OK, I would just slow down alittle..

    Good Luck, Larry

slow down dude. You don't need to make a fish suffer to get the tank to cycle. Fishless cycle will work just as well and just as fast. Go get a table shrimp from the grocery store, one that's already dead and won't suffer, and toss it in the tank. Leave it for about a week and then start testing.

I said small cycle as there is live rock and sand from an exsiting tank being used in it already. sorry I should of added more then just a small cycle.

and what is your LFS store salinity reading? it should be right on 1.024 -1.026. I did not know what you ment I was reading the title about cycling with RO water. as Larry stated stranger things have happened.

a little off subject but we had a local guy doing 100% water changes every week he thought thats what a water change was. ok back on the topic
