I found out a buddy of my buddies is an acrylic/plastic fabricator. :D So I can get a nice custom tank built for dirty cheap. Any suggestions on size? Shape? Etc? Any suggestions you all might have that would make this optimal please feel free to speak up. I want to use a refugium and I will have the holes cut out of the bottom rather than stuff draping down the back of the tank.

If you guys know of any threads where somebody did something similar a link would be cool too. :D

Bump! FYI, your thread has been set visible or approved. It was placed in a moderated forum. Fish tank brands and kite are for name brand tanks like tru-vu. Sounds like a good score . If I were to build a tank now, it would be for an inwall or square for top viewing like a frag tank or zero edge. Depth would be your biggest concern. It will affect your lighting requirements.

    Thx.

Yea I rent atm so I can't do that inwall just yet LOL!!!!!!!! :D

I was thinking the same thing about an open top tank. I always like the way these look. Not sure I got the space for this though. I was thinking like a 300gal. It sounds like I can get this made for basically cost of materials so the only consideration I need to take in is: Can I move it if necessary, and will it fit against a wall and not be too much "in the way".

I got about 6' to work with in length, and would like to keep it to about 2'-3' in width. Does anybody have a good calculator to figure gallons in a tank size? Or maybe even just the formula and I can play around with it?

If I had that kind of opportunity I'd try to do something along the lines of the tank in this thread
