I've had a saltwater tank for about a year now, but I upgraded from a 10 gal to a biocube 29 about 2 months ago. The transition went fine and I didn't lose anything in the process.

Tigermike is right about the heavy metals; but you also have to be careful at the store. I get r/o water from the store, but if the water feels warm in any way dump it out and go back later. Some times the demand is high and the r/o unit can not keep up, when that happens the water will feel warm. I'm hopeing to buy an r/o unit soon, but I have to quit buying larger tanks first!

In a 29 gallon 10% would be a 3 gallon water change. Even if your sg and ph was off a little it would not really matter and cause the clownfish to die as long as your salt was mixed fully until dissolved completely. I can mix my Tropic Marin with a power head in an hour and use it but I usually let it mix for 24 hours then use it. I think there was something in that distilled water possibly. Until you get an RODi unit just buy Ro water at the food store.
