How often do people here clean their Koralia Powerheads? They get a lot of algae and crud in a short period of time which I would assume lessens the rated flow output.

Every three months or so I take out my power heads, soak them in a vinegar solution (50% Water 50% Vinegar) over night then scrub them off, rinse them off with ro water and put them back in. Oh Yeah make sure you take them apart too so all the parts are cleaned off well.

Usually I do 2 powerheads at a time so there is some circulation in the tank.

    cheers

I usually do mine every time they are looking a bit gunky. I have 7 of them in my tank so I also do 2-3 at a time. I dont soak mine just take them apart and clean them with a toothe brush seems to work. I have allot of coriline on mine lately so hopefully its not to tough this time around.

If the Coraline doesn't come off easily soak them, the vinegar makes the Coraline come off extremely easy.;) And the toothbrush is a must...

I have had the tank for years and this is the first I have seen of it on the powerheads. I will try it. Do you run them in fresh water to get the vinager off or just rinse them off?

After I soak them in vinegar overnight, I scrub them, they will look like new, then I rinse them in reg water for a while, then in RODI. Seems to work for me.

I had an uptake on my biowheel filter that was encrusted with Coraline, over a year old, soaked it for a couple says, and you would never know it ever had any on it. It really helps to keep the equipment running nicely.

Also Great if you want to sell your unused equipment to make it look great before you sell it.;)

So where do you go for your stuff? We are actually in Lebanon ME but run a buisness out of Rochester NH. The house and shop are 3.3 miles apart.

Unfortunately there aren't any places close by that sell SW fish or Corals that we regularly buy from.

    1. Jays Aquatics(Salem NH) lots of corals some fish tanks have always looked good.
    2. Seaworld pet center(Salem NH) couple tanks of corals lots of sw fish. Tanks look good most of the time.
3.Tropical Aisle Pet store (Framingham MA right up the road from the cheesecake factory mmmmmmm.)3 Coral tanks, lots of sw Fish tanks. Had Pretty good luck with them.
    4. There is also a pet store in Plaistow we go to, forget the name, right off 125.
    5. Buy online quite a bit from bluezooaquatics, cleanup crews mostly and a couple corals.

We buy all our supplies online from either Fosters & Smith or Marinedepot.com
