If you have an ATO fed by your water system, just blow a fan across the surface. This will cause a lot of evaporation, which will cool the tank. A $10, 6" fan kept my 55 at 78° during the hot summer, even when the house was around 85°.

I have a chiller in coastal georgia. I wouldn't trade it for the world. My tank gets waaay too hot and the only thing that keeps it cool in the summer is a chiller.

Chillers while sometimes necessary suck up electricity like Coca Cola. I would be carefull using something that was not designed for SW like a computer chiller. It may be made from metals that would quickly corrode and kill everything in your system. I would try a fan before spending the money on a chiller..

The O.P. is talking about using a computer chiller.

Oooops, gotcha. I wouldn't go that route for sure. Too many opportunities to mess something up.

By the time you DIY a chiller, you could probable buy one.
