    my bulbs are 28w, if i up them to 54w bulbs, and put bigger fans on it, will it still blow up?

    You need to find out what ballast you have. With fluorescents (VHO,PC and T5)You can run lower wattage bulbs in a larger ballast but not the opposite, they probably won't even light up.
