So I've been working on setting up my 20g nano for a while. Completely new to saltwater. 17lbs LR and 20lbs LS. Nearly cycled as well. I have a 10g sump w/ a bulky ASM G-1 skimmer (will use when I upgrade) and a Gen-X 2400 pump (also for upgrade). I have sectioned off an area on the left side of the sump with some eggcrate and added about an 8" ball of Chaeto from a friend's established 125g tank (actually his refugium, but you get the drift). I only have a phone camera right now, so please excuse the graininess, but does this look alright below? And the heater is on the far left, behind the chaeto. Should I move it?

Also, I got the skimmer used from my LFS. They told me not to worry about cleaning it (the outside I mean) as it contained biological...
Now, a week later it looks like those crazy "white wormy things" are shooting out some brownish/purplish polyps. You can barely make them out. Should I be worried or remove them?

Thanks so much for all the help!

I think that looks good. I don't have a sump now so lets see what the sump users say they may have some great suggestions.

Just found out the white casings are feather dusters...a good thing, right?
    Now about the sump...

Any thoughts on the sump set-up?

Looks fine, it's a bit cramped, but you really can't do much about that. It's good that you got some equipment with an upgrade in mind. I like to keep the outside of my skimmer clean just so nothing affects the integrity of the acrylic, but it's probably not necessary. Good luck with the tank.
