my emerald crab does a good job of keeping the numbers low on the bubble algae, you dont really have to remove it as long as its being controlled

 

Actually that is a hobbyist urban legend. Phycologists will tell you the spores are part of the "skin" basically aren't "free floating" in the liquid in them. I thought the same as you until I started to work with a Phycologist.
