I want to re-aquascape my tank from the ground up,basically redo the whole look of it.I have a 10g with fresh sw for wc's made up with heater and a couple hob filters(just for flow, theres no filters in them),would it hurt to set my corals and a few rocks in there for a few hours till i get the rockwork done?Or would the fresh uncycled sw hurt in anyway?I wouldn't think it would, but thought i better ask someone before doing it.I'll would make sure the temp,ph and sg is all the same in both before starting.

I did this exact same thing. Do you have a big rubbermaid tub or a trash can? I used a rubbermaid tub. I emptied out several gallons of my tank and put that water into the tub, then put some of my rock and all the coral into that container. I felt better about putting them in the water they are used to. I didn't need to use a heater, I was pretty quick, but you might want to use a heater if it's going to take you awhile.

You should be fine, just make sure the parameters match.

I was also thinking of just acclimating the 2 tanks to each other for a day by just taking a pitcher full of one and dumping in the other, then vice versa to match the tanks together over the coarse of a day, then when done,i'll just ditch the water in the 10 and make a new batch for wc's.Thanks both,i think i just answered my own question.lol!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
;D When I want to mess with my tank, I just use some larger containers. I usually do other maintance at the same time like glue down corals, clean power heads and stuff like that. I use some mechancial filtration and clean the tank and glass and do a water change.

I would just take some water from the display after all the pumps have been turned off and use that so you do not have to do the acclimation thing. And then just add the new saltwater to the tank when your done.

    Have fun.

I would syphon some water into a tub, tote, garbage can or cooler and then put rocks, corals, fish in it. re aquascape as desired then put water back in. Then do a 10 gal WC. Either way will work. I would rather have the fresh SW seperate incase I was to spill some. JMPO
