Not my skimmer, but my penguin powerhead.Every couple minutes it burps a bunch of small bubbles in the tank(like an airbubble builds and then lets loose) I can't imagine the ph is recycling the bubbles it's blowing because of the amount of bubbles thats coming out far outweighs what few it might be sucking in after it burps. The powerhead is completly submerged,so it can't be sucking air. It's been doing it for a while,I can't figure out where there coming from and i'm getting flustered.

sometimes cyano or other bacteria will grow inside the pump or powerhead. Cyano or Dino's will form air or nitrogen gas bubbles. I would remove the pump or powerhead. take it apart and soak in bleach for an hour. Rinse and dry. Try again. Also if it is too close to the surface, it can suck air down in a vortex, watch for that also.

I agree with the vortex theory, it can be well under water and still suck air occasionally. Try moving the power head around to alleviate the problem.

I can definatly positively say it not sucking down a vortex, i'm no expert and i do have a little cyano, but this is blowing off every minute or 2,the bubbles just start to clear and it blows again.I cleaned the powerhead a few weeks ago,but i have a hard time believing that cyano is producing that much, could it??

How old are the pumps?? I vaguely remember having that issue, but it has been so long since I started those pumps, I think it just quit on its own. Also when I do water changes, the level will drop just below my Koralias, and they will hold air in the back of them. I take a turkey baster and blow them out after I refill the tank.

I've actually unplugged it,a flipped it upside down to let the trapped bubble out,but got very little air.So i'm bout ready to toss it and get another because i'm stumped,it's sucking from somewhere,i just can't find it.

I would just give it time...I also remember the small power head in my Picotope spit bubbles for a long time...finally quit.

I have koralias that had the same problem with bubbles. I called hydor and they helped me find out I had 2 missing bushings under the propellers. They shipped replaccements for free and now no issue.
