I purchased a BTA about 3 or 4 weeks ago and for the first few weeks it climbed behind all my aquascape and was hiding with little flow and lighting. I then took it off and put it in the sand in the front corner of the tank with good lighting and flow and the next morning I found it near the top of the aquascape wedged between 2 rocks. I have let it be and let it do it thing but it looks like most of the time it is really small and hardly ever see it rich its tentacles out. Its about the size of a quarter maybe a little larger. I have one clown and want it to accept it but it doesn’t even seem like the clown knows its there. Any suggestions to getting the BTA happy and healthy?

    Thanks in advance.

They will go where they want and the clown will either host in it or it won't you have done all you can do.. Just let them be and let it happen And if you have a tank bred Perc clown then you will be lucky if it even knows what an anemone is and let alone its supposed to host in them.. Some will and some won't

How large was it at the Lfs when you got it and how old is your tank?
IF it has shrunk and will not respond I would keep a close eye on it for decintergration and if its starting whip it out befor it polutes your tank.

It was maybe a little larger when i got it at the LFS. My tank has been up and running for a little over 3 months now.

I dont remember if we have talked about this before, seems to me that we have. What kind of lighting do you have?, parameters. When they start shrinking, its usually a bad sign, Im sorry to say. I wish the best. Luna

I have the Red Sea max which included two T5's. My parameters are good except my alkalinity was a little high for a little bit. but everything else looks like they are doing great... frogspawn and brain coral.

Your tanks pretty young for that bta. I made the same mistake and lost a rosetipped. I waited until my tank was almost a year old before getting another one and had great success..... Good luck either way......

I dont remember, I just took a water sample to the LFS and they said that i was doing too much PH buffer and my alkalinity was too high.

Tanks less then a year old is not good for anemone's and also you should have your test kits before anything goes into the tank.. Water is 99.99% of an aquarium and then the quality of the water determines 99.99% of its success .. Water parameters can change in minuets . Any idea as to where the Nitrate and or Nitrite levels are ? Any slight hint of Ammonias or NO2's will wipe anemones out. Tanks have to be aged and very stable for these animals .
