Hi everyone, I have taken on the challenge of a Goniapora and was having a little trouble with it starting to retract. Someone here recommended oyster eggs along with phytoplankton. I bought some oyster feast and after a couple of feedings it is responding well, so, thank you for that suggestion. Now comes the intriging part of this post. Since it is doing better, it has taken on an almost florecent lime Green color. It started out Brown. I actually like the new color better as it is an eye catcher in the tank but I was curious as to why it changed? The lights are the same and are at about their mid-point as far as age of bulbs.
So, what do you think? Here are before and after;(pics are after and before)

It could be a couple of different things. It could have been a brown Goniopora that is bleaching. However, if that's the case, if you keep target feeding it, it will turn brown again. It could have also been a green Goniopora that was very unhealthy and on it's way out and now that it is getting better nutrition, it's recovering.

This can not be the biggest mystery out there. Where are all the veterans?

as I recall this species scared away lots of reefers because they were so difficult. There were a few years ago protests to dealers not to sell these. This being the case very few have experience. I had one a few years ago and it died with in weeks, so I for one hope that you are successful and we can learn from what you are doing.
How old is your specimen now?

it could be alot of factors what are your param's? is anything stinging it? and as inwall stated it could be as simple as nothing and it is going back to it's natural color. But if your pramas changed recently, flow any of those can change a color of a coral lighting also.

If it matters, i think it looks healthier now then it did before. Anemones turn whiter when they aren't doing too well.
