    Yep, that's what I ordered.
I was ordering a bunch of stuff from BRS anyway.

But you can get the same thing at a craft store ... maybe even Wal-Mart.
    It's called "plastic craft mesh"

Do you have the XL as well? i am considering the Nextreef SMR-1 (the non-XL version) and am not sure what amount of bio pellets is recommended. i know that it says that it is rated for up to 250 gallons but i cant se where it says anything about the amount of bio pellets.

Sorry to resurrect a old thread, but i kinda wanted to see if anyone had any newer input. I have a heavy load in my 28 gallon and have always had nitrates around 20 ppm. Everything was doing great but u have a bad hair algae outbreak so I figured I might as well try biopellets and kill two birds with one stone. After adding the biopellets I notice my nitrates are really low, my algae is still there if not worse and my frogspawn barely opens at all. After watching some videos and reading up more I found that it might be bad to go to a nitrate level that low especially if the corals are used to it. Last night I turned off the reactor and am considering going back to the way it was and maybe try vodka dozing to elimination the algae. Any input would be appreciated.

Are you running a skimmer? Have a quality skimmer is very important to the success of bio pellets. If you don't have a skimmer running BP does nothing, if not creating more problems. Also, you just don;t want to strip the water to quickly of nitrates, bring them down slowly.

yea i got a skimmer and its coming out of the reactor right in front of the skimmer input. I only have the pellets moving enough to see them not sitting in any spots. The valve on my mag 5 is open all the way.
