I just wondered how many people are running biopellet reactors on their tanks and whether they are happy with them. Please let me know which reactor you own and your opinion of it. Do you feel that it has made a significant difference concerning your nitrate levels?

I have the NextReef SMR1 Solid Media Reactor

NextReef SMR1 XL Solid Media Reactor

It has worked for me and I have a heavy bio-load also. My Nitrates average around 5 - 10 ppm depending on how I feed.

I use the same model as RB. I really like it. I added another 250ml of pellets to the already 250mls.

Its taken awhile....almost 3 months but I am seeing a definite difference. haven't tested yet but yeah.

Well if you are wondering if the pellets work, I can attest first hand. I don't even use an actual reactor and have amazing results. I have an Eheim Canister filter and put Ecobak in the first section and carbon in the second. I have been running it for about 6 months, and have had no detectable nitrates, and the highest phos. I have had was 0.04, but is usually 0.02 with a hanna checker the entire time. I have a heavy bioload, and feed 3 times a day.

i run them in a two little fishes reactor, given proper water changes and a good skimmer they will drop you in the single digits. I was at around 0.3 ppm nitrate with them for a while.

you can't claim they don't work if you follow the advice on the net.
