both are right, you can get to young ones and pair them up so one turns female or if you already have a small one you could add a larger one thats already female

I have always read and been told that you should get un-equal sizes to avoid conflict.

What I have found that works is to either get them at the same time and the same size or if you are adding one to your tank and have a pre-existing one then to make sure that it is smaller than the one you have. If left alone for awhile, when a clown matures it will go female and from there it can't change back to male. If you add a larger one than the one you have, then you will most likely result in trouble as the new one will most likely be female as well. I could be wrong, someone correct me if I am, but just my thoughts.

OK well... when they are young you can add the same size and they will be ok because they are juveniles and are not sexually mature so there shouldn't be any conflict. They will mature together establishing dominance over time.

when they are sexually mature you should add preferable an already mated pair, or a big one and a small one. There could be some "trouble" the first days if they aren't already a mated pair, but that's just until they establish who is dominant over whom.
