Retro's are nice for small(er) spaces but an all in one fixture will be much better with less headache, although wiring up a retro might make you reach for a few beers it will not be worth it ;D what are you planning to keep?

I am with Jason. For a 20g long, this is what I would put over it.

Here is a cheaper alternative. The bulbs themselves are not all that good (and I am being kind here), but can be replaced with something like UVL's or Giesemann's later in life.

There is a 30" version of the Sundial as well. The link below is 24".

Current USA Sundial T5HO Aquariuim Light Fixtures

With the first arrangment, you would pretty much put anything you want in there. With the second arrangment, some SPS would be out of reach and some clams would be iffy. It's just a matter of the quality of bulb in there. And honestly, if you are willing to spend the money for a Sundial, I would save a little longer and get a better overall unit (the TEKs).

Now, if you just want to keep some easy corals and a mated pair of whatever, the 2x24W T5s would do you just fine.

    Peace.......John.
