I dont try to remove mine because I dont see anything wrong with them. But you could try harlequin shrimp though you will have to remove your other stars

the answer is very simple ...take them out put them in a bag of tank water and sell them to me :)... lol they arent harmful they do supposedly eat coraline algea though.but that is in such small quantities that its probably not worth mentioning.they might make their way back into your display from the sump but i wouldnt think its very likely.

They eat Coraline Algae. Not that I really care to scrape my glass all the time. They wiped mine out. They are really cute when you have 50. Wait till you have a 1000.

I tried eradicating mine...never even dented them. I would take out 300 at a time and give to the LFS. Finally got a Harlequin. Even as small as it is it is wiping them out. I'm glad they are gone.

Powerman, did you have larger asterinas or the tiny ones eat your coralline?

Well they are all tiny and fragments. The largest ones are maybe a dime. I used to have coraline and then it started dying with little white spots. Never put the two together till some one mentioned it. Now you can see them eating it off the overflow. Again, I don't really care about coraline, but I hate seeing thousands of them.

I'm not a big fan of these because they can reproduce fast. I have some in my refugium after tossing one from my display tank in there. I have not seen any in my display since, but I do have a bunch in the fuge now.

A few years back I snapped an interesting pic that made me suspect they were munching on my montipora. You can check it out here:
