lol, as an it professional it's unfortunately not prudent for me to convert all my systems to Linux, every time I do it bites me in the Butt and I have to reload one somewhere!

That is my job i'm a computer tech, sales and repairs.Avast is a very good antivirus,we have trusted it for years with are shop servers, and at our homes.But...there is no antivirus program or spyware program out there that blocks a lot of the crap that is out there. Most of the stuff out there today is not a trogen or virus,it's malware or spyware. It can take control of your computer and make it useless to use.I've seen all shortcuts of desktops disappear, task bar gone,my computer,my documents dissappear. After i clean them everything comes back. Can't get on the net, could be a dns rerouter. You must get into safe mode, shut of system restore, and start cleaning from there. You could get infected looking on the net for the free software to remove the critters.Major geeks and bleeping computers are safe trusted sites to get your tools from. You might not even have your system restore tab,you have to clean till you get it back, then shut it off.Start with cccleaner to dump all your temp files to speed up the scans. Then malwarebytes trial, combo fix then noadaware,to name a few.All these tools need to be updated,if you can't get internet to update, you must clean till you do.I clean machines day in and day out,6 days a week.I always win,it just takes time....but it never takes me 3 days :D

Well good news, I'm virus free now :)! Unfortunately the virus corrupted the OS files and I had to reinstall my OS. So I took the chance to upgrade from Vista to 7, plus getting a student discount on campus it was only $40 for 7. Now the long process of reinstalling all my programs.

I am hooked on Norton Internet Security (2010 now). Nothing seems to get past it. I like the "Log ins" and "Cards".
