So I had a span of about 2days where I was between anti virus programs. Apparently in that two day span I contracted a virus on my computer or it came in when I was downloading the new antivirus program. Needless to say I took my laptop up to the IT desk on campus and they said "sure we can fix it, it should be done tomorrow afternoon." So today is tomorrow afternoon and I go in to pick it up. They then proceed to tell me that I was misinformed and that it takes 3 days for a virus removal, why the heck does it take 3 days to remove a virus. Luckily I'm able to use my friends computer, hence how this thread came about. Man, I really hate computer viruses !

takes 3 days because once they have it your not likely to get it back till they are good and ready to give it to you. And to think you paid for the privlige :p

do you know which virus it was? I keep getting hit with this vista security center 2010 everytime I turn around, I have it down to a science to clean it out, takes 2 hours flat.

No, I'm not sure which one it is. Maybe they'll tell me when I pick it up, if that ever happens.

I downloaded a regfix to my thumb drive that repairs the registry entries changed by the virus, once thats done I can open and run a complete scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. It finds and quarantines any instances of av.exe
